Every Hour Is Precious

A few days ago for daylight savings I had to put all the clocks in my home forward one hour, something we’ve all been doing for years.  But It wasn’t until that day that I realized how precious the hour I just went forward in time was.

I was sitting at my computer, checked the time and it was 7:49 pm.  Almost eight, but if we didn’t go forward an hour it would only be 6:49 pm.  And at 6:49 I usually get ready to watch a movie, or go out to run some errands.  Yet here I was at 7:49, almost time to get into my cozy bed and fall asleep.

Time is something I wish I could slow down at certain points of my life, I’m sure it is for all of us.  But how come there is only 24 hours in a day? Not 25? Or 30?  It would be better if it was 30, then I could spend more time doing things I wanted to do.

And that get’s us to the main point: every hour is precious to us.  We can do so much in a mere hour, do a full workout, get a lot better at something, watch a few episodes of your favorite show.  Or we can learn another section out of a unit at school, or complete another task you had to at work.

Every hour we live through should be something to be grateful for and something to be proud of.  We have a lot of hours in our life’s, and it’s important we don’t waste those hours.  We spend a lot of times on our phones, computers, and just waiting for something to happen.

Waiting

What are you waiting for?  Get out there! Have some fun!  Whatever you’re looking for won’t come to you, you need to find it.  And you have the time, so do it.  Sure, it may not be as much time as we’d like, but there had to be a boundary somewhere.

Something that you can really do is write out a schedule;  Make a chart of what you do with every 24 hours of your day.  You’ll find that for quite a few you’re doing nothing, not even going on your phone, just nothing.

So take those hours, and do something that will make you a better person.  Every hour is precious to us, we live a short life, so use them.  

Priorities

We have a lot of things to do in life.  At times it may not seem like it, but we do.  There’s 2 major groups, things we want to do, and things we have to do.  Sometimes making a decision on what you should do can be hard.

What you need to do to make the right decision is think, how is this action going to affect you?  Right now, and in the future.  Would it be better to buy that awesome bike you’ve been wanting? Or, should you use that money to pay off some rent you’re a little behind on.

It’s important you think about happiness, but also success.  Every now and then, do something that makes you happy, that’s a priority.  But keeping up with expenses and such is also a priority.  So, find the thing of most importance, and stick with it.  But focus on it.

We think about all these things we have to do and we sometimes forget about priorities.  Just thinking about what’s happening right now.  This can be a big reason why you have stress.

Bottom line?  Make a list.

Put the things that are most important to you at the top, and focus on those things.  But when you put your attention on something, keep it there.  Don’t go off starting hundreds of projects you’ll never finish.

Start it, and complete it.  Those are the magic words to success.  You’ll be able to get things done, and the more things you get done the faster you will be able to start doing the things you love.   And that’s one of the biggest priorities we have in life.

Happiness

Why I hate Alcohol

There is a reason why I have sworn myself never to drink, and I feel as though it is a good one.  They say if a parent of a child drank a lot then that child is most likely too.  But not me.  In fact, I despise Alcohol.  Why?

My dad was an alcoholic.

There is such a clear difference between a child that lives with an alcoholic vs. one who does not.  And I can relate to living with one.  My dad was a drinker, a big one.  And it almost tore my family apart.

Every night, he’d go out and buy beer, come home, and drink it.  That was his life.  Around $1,500 dollars a year he spent on beer.  He was depressed, angry, and didn’t know what to do with his life.

The effects this had on the family was unbelievable.  Arguments every night, things being thrown, my sisters crying, it was chaos.  And all I could do was sit in my room hoping he didn’t bust through in his drunken state, yelling at me that I don’t take out the trash as much as I should and what not.

The word divorce flung around from time to time.  He would come home at 3:00 am because he spent all his money on beer and couldn’t get a taxi back causing him to walk home.  In the morning he was mad, just assumed we don’t remember anything that happened last night.

For 15 years my life was a living hell.  All I wanted to do was to be put in a different family.  All I would think about at school is how others don’t have to go through what I did.  I was so jealous of their lives, coming home just worrying about homework instead of worrying about avoiding a drunk father.

One night, I had the worst night of my life.  It started with lots of arguments between my mom and dad as usually, a few banging of furniture.  Then silence.  From there I thought they cooled down and it was time to go to bed.  And just after a few moments, I heard someone cursing outside at the top of their lungs.  Laughing to myself I thought at least that’s not my dad… until I realized it was.

I laid in my bed, scared, embarrassed, and depressed.  I was done with this shit.  But I couldn’t stop it, so all I could do is wait in my bed, thinking about how my friends and neighbors relationships will never be the same.  I will now be the kid everyone feels sorry for because his dad is a bad alcoholic.

It was a late, and after a few hours silence fell.  I soon learned that my dad was taken to the police office.  Relieved, I went to sleep.

The next morning I went to school, glad to be anywhere but home.  And I didn’t want school to end.  When I came home however, I heard the best news I could have possibly wanted:  My dad has decided to quit drinking.

The next year of my life improved at an unbelievable pace.  Sure, there were some ups and downs.  Some arguments still but none of that mattered.  Now, I didn’t have to worry about my dad dying at a young age, didn’t have to worry about being brought into a drunk argument.

It was easier to focus on task I had to do, and my relationship with my dad improved greatly.  So if you’re a heavy drinker, think about the effects you have on others.  Think about your family friends, and think about whether or not you should be doing what you’re doing.  If you’re trying to quit that’s fantastic, but if not try to at least tone it down.

There are a lot of reasons to go out for a drink, it was a bad day, it was a good day, it’s Monday, it’s Friday, there are countless reasons.  But we can’t focus on the reasons why we should, we must focus on the reasons why we shouldn’t.

Because Life is Short

It may seem long when we’re sitting in a long lecture of class, or thinking about the next 7 hours of work we are about to complete.  But in the end, we all know the truth.

Life is short.

So short in fact, when the time comes to kick the bucket we still have things to do.  And that to me is one of the most depressing things of all time to think of.

I have a lot of things I wish for, we all do.  I wish I could feel every emotion, have a childhood all over the world.  The reality is that I’m not going to live in too many houses in my life, but I want to experience every location.  I want to work thousands of jobs, find the ones that I’m passionate about.  I want to play every sport, and eat every type of food.

It is said that if we could, we would fall in love with millions of people.  The only reason why we don’t is because we can only handle one person being our “true love.”  And I want to fall in love with those millions of people.  Go on the roller coaster of life hundreds of times.

I’m not saying I wish to be immortal, I would rather have a life of 20 years than forever.  But. if only life wasn’t so short.  Why is it?

So, point being, don’t waste your life.  We can’t do everything we’re going to want to in life, so enjoy the things you can do.  And believe me, you can do anything you wish to.  So go out and live a great life.  Whether you think it’s long or short, it’s not forever.  And when it’s time to pull the plug you’re going to want to be happy with it.

Appreciate everything you have, and have as much fun as you can.  Money is not fun, fun is fun.  Go grab some friends and go bowling tonight, watch a movie with someone special, and enjoy the life you have been given.  After all, it is a short one.

How to Succeed in School

School can be pretty tough sometimes, we can all agree with that.  You have to go to boring classes, waste the whole day and go home to spend the remaining time studying or doing homework.  It can get very repetitive and extremely stressful at times.

However, school is a great experience that we need to be grateful to have.  In fact, school can be surprisingly fun if you have lot’s of success with it!  How you may ask?

1.  Get Organized

Clear off the desk, get some spare pencils and paper, and make an area nice and tidy for you to do work on.  At this very moment go get all you’re school supplies, take them out and organize it.  Maybe you have an inch worth of math papers that you’ve been meaning to recycle for a year, or you’ve been putting Spanish papers in your English folder.  Do whatever you can do to get everything where it needs to be, and so that things are easy to access and work on.

2.  Have a Planner to Use

Lot’s of people hate planners, but these guys will be saving you so many times you won’t have any problem at all remembering things.  The hard part? Using it.  Lot’s of people have planners, but are too lazy to use it.  The second you’re instructor tells you a date, or an assignment, write it down.  After school check it, and make sure everything will be done.

3.  Pay Attention

Honestly, it’s not that hard.  Get a good nights rest so that you’re ready for the day and keep you’re mind focused on the lesson.  Watch the teacher, take notes, and don’t let little things in your life get into your mind.  Before you know it a whole chapter will be taught and you’ll be stuck learning it on your own.

4.  Eliminate Distractions

We live in a world where there’s so many things that can stop us from doing what we have to do.  So unplug technology, get away from the busy world, and get your work done.  You can get things done so fast if you just focus and don’t get distracted by anything.

5.  Get a Good Group of Friends

Have a group of people you have fun with to help you get through things.  Maybe make a small study group that meets once a week, or help each other on projects.  With the help of others you will be able to get anything done and at least someone is bound to know the answer to one of your questions.  This is also a great way to have fun!

6.  Study When You’re Not At School

Studying has become a time where you text your friends, or take lots of breaks to relax your mind.  Sure, breaks are also a great thing to have when studying, but at this rate hours will pass when you could get the work done in one.  Do the work outside of school with focus, and be smart while studying.

So really, be smart about it.  Get away from distractions, be organized, and pay attention.  If you worked two hours of focused work a day I assure you that your grades will be outstanding.  And when you start getting good grades, you start to gain motivation to do even better.  And that’s where the fun begins.   Good luck!

How to be less stressed

We live is a very successful society.  We have to get up early, work until its late.  Study, do homework, extra work.  All these modern annoyances can play a huge role in our lifestyle.  Now, it may be impossible to have a totally stress free life, but you sure can get close!

First off, we need to know what stress is.  Long ago, stress was caused when humans were put in a situation where they felt in danger.  This gave the body a boost to get out of that situation.  Once the energy was exerted, so was the stress.  For example, a bear attacking someone and that person jumping up into a tree.  The problem?

We let stress stay in our body all throughout the day, whether we realize it or not.

This can be extremely harmful to our mental, and physical health.  Overtime, people have learned that stress can be the main factor for many bad things.  And it is very important that we know how to get that stress out of us and how to be able to prevent it.

There are many things that can cause stress, good or bad.  A wedding, a huge test, a job interview, getting dinner on the table.  There are so many things that can make ourselves feel stressed.  The important thing is to get this stress out.

But, there are some ways that you shouldn’t get stress out.  For one thing, do NOT go out and have a drink, alcohol is a depressant that will only make matters worst.  Also, taking things out on other people and being aggressive won’t do a thing but hurt relationships.  So be smart about it.

One of the best ways to take care of stress is to find the problem, and put an end to it.  Now if you’re feeling stressed because you’re not the president of your country, well, good luck.  Luckily however, there are tons of other ways to get stress out, and they may even work better.

Exercise is actually one of the best ways to get stress out too.  Long ago, stress was used to help the body get out of a situation, and to do that the body had to do physical actions.  Jogging around the block, stretching, anything physical can help stress become less of a problem.

Other ways not to be stressed? Well, let’s make a list.

1.  Take care of your problems as fast as you can.  One of the worst things you can do is procrastinate, and I’m sure we’re all very good at doing that.  Make sure you take care of things when you get the chance to, that way you’ll have more time later and you will feel great about the use of your time.

2.  Stay Organized.  Having a clean desk to work on, space to move around in, and a schedule to follow can really keep your life together.  You will know whats ahead and you will be ready to take on any challenge that comes up.

3.  Be Prepared.  Now, it’s hard to say to be prepared for everything.  Considering there are lots of factors that can play a role in the things you do, but, it’s important you have a plan in case something does come up.  Once you do you know you’ll be ready and the situation won’t be as rough when you have some things to help you out.

4.  Have control.  Whenever you go into anything that can be stressful, be ready to change things you need to change and make sure everything is right according to you.  Use anything that can assist you in having control over a situation so that you feel like you are in power and nothing can go wrong.

5.  Avoid Multitasking.  This is very important, don’t ever put to much on your plate.  We’re going to have lots of task to compete, that’s just life.  But it is utmost important just to focus on one thing at a time.  You’ll be able to complete things easier and you’ll be able to do more and more on one thing to get you to that finish line faster.

6.  Relax throughout the day.  Have 20 minutes or so when you just do whatever you want throughout the day.  These little breaks can relax your mind and get you ready for whatever is coming up next.

7.  Be grateful.  We usually don’t know what we have until it’s gone.  Stressed out about the job you have to work?  Someone out there would kill to have it.  Having I’m grateful moments will really make you a happier person and improve your personality overall.  Make sure you realize what a great life you’re living and use this positive attitude to succeed in life.

So, if you’re struggling, go out and run a little.  Take a break from your routine and have some fun.  It’s important we have some moments where we can just take a breathe, look at our life, and relax a little.  Have a wonderful day and I hope you can prevent stress from coming into you’re life after this!

Use Time to Your Advantage

To me, time can be your best friend, or your enemy.  At this point in my life, I’m fairly young, and I feel like I have quite a bit of time ahead of me.  But what I can’t get over is how fast time goes by.  One day you’re waiting for your mom to get you that new cool Lego set and the next your writing up your last essay in college.

I can remember playing with my elementary school buddies at recess like it was yesterday.  Pretending to be space explorers on the swing sets, digging for gold in the sandbox, running from dragons in the field, it was some great times.  But, then time just went by and now I’m making life changing decisions right here right now.

It’s unbelievable how fast time flies by and I wish there could be a way to slow it down, but there’s not.  So, the best thing we can do now is think about the remaining time we have, and go out and live a good life.

I hope I can use every year I have to make my life more successful.  I have mixed emotions about New Year’s Eve.  For one thing, every countdown is so anti-climatic, but another is how we always reflect on the year we just lived through.  And when I reflect on my year, the first thing I think about is how fast it just went by.

What’s great about New Years Eve however is how it’s a checkpoint.  It’s a time where you can think to yourself what you’re going to do this year, and how you’re going to do it.  Resolutions are made, and it feels like you have a clean slate.  It is very nice in my opinion, and it’s a great thing to have for our mindset.

But it’s also a new year that’s passing with such great speed that you wish you can stop.  So what I really want to get to is that you have time, so use it.  Don’t waste your life.  A lot of people wish to know how to save money, or how to follow their dreams.  And the thing they need to do is to use time to their advantage.  Don’t waste it, use it.  Do something that will make you closer to that goal.  Adding a quarter in a jar, doing another jog around the block, anything will make you closer.

So use time to your advantage, everything adds up.  If you add 5 dollars into a jar everyday you will have $1,825 dollars waiting for you at the end of the year.  I’m sure we all waste at least $5 on something everyday, I know I do.

So, main point, Do something everyday, even if it’s the smallest thing.  People usually give up when things aren’t happening now, we live in a world where the word “instant” is all that matters.  But if you do something, big or small every day you can accomplish anything.

So start today, read 10 pages of that long book, put some money in a safe place, start to build up your foundation of success.  Everyone starts somewhere, so you need to start now.

My Biggest Fear.

Hello, today I would like to let you all know what my favorite fear is.  Now, we all have those little things that creep us out.  I personally can’t stand spiders.  But there is one thing that I truthfully frightened of:

Sitting on my deathbed with regrets.

Really! We can’t be having that!  I want to be able to die without ANY regrets.  Having a dream to follow is such an amazing part of life! But it isn’t going to be of any help if you don’t do anything!

The main thing I want to throw out is this: Don’t waste your life.

You may think you have time, whether your 18 or 75.  But life speeds by so fast! We don’t have time to waste it!  This is your small chance to have a great life.  It’s a miracle that you’re alive!  Look around you! It’s completely amazing what we have shaped this world to be!  The average human life is around 30,000 days long.  When we look at life in years, it can seem so big.  Put it in days, and its only 30,000 days!  That’s insane!

If you have a dream, follow it.  If you have an activity you would like to try, do it.  If you have a goal you want to accomplish, complete it.  We just can’t continue life with excuses.  Before you know it 10 years are going to pass by and you’ll be wishing you tried doing that one thing.

So I beg of you, whenever you get the slight urge to do something, whether its getting into mountain biking, or learning how to play an instrument.  You have to do it.  You just have to.

Everyone starts at nothing.  And its the most successful people that build up their life the most.  If everyone tried their best to have an amazing life, what a world this would be.

ASMR: All You Need to Know

So, you’ve heard a little about asmr, or have you?  Asmr is a very new thing to our society, in fact, barely anyone knows about.  I must say though, the few people who have stumbled across it are very lucky.

Asmr stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response.  Now, that’s a lot of big words and I still don’t know what they mean even after the years.  But, in other words its what your body feels after hearing or seeing certain things.

I’m sure everyone here reading this has experienced Asmr.  But people who have experienced it don’t think about what it actually is.  They think to themselves “I like this feeling” and then forget about it.

What does experiencing Asmr feel like?  Well, people can get it from numerous things.  Getting a haircut, getting checked at a doctors appointment, listening to the rain on your roof, or even a friend talking to you.  It is described as that tingling sensation that usually occurs in the head, scalp, and back.

There are so many things that can “trigger” asmr.  And there a lots of theories about why we get triggered by these things.  Bottom line: You get a tingling feeling from something and you like it.

A lot of people really like the feeling of Asmr, and you may be wondering how else you can experience it.  Getting a haircut everyday isn’t the best way to roll.  So what’s your best bet? Youtube.  There has been lots of Youtubers coming up from the Asmr Community.  I feel as though asmr has grown considerably because of Youtube, that’s how I found it.

My favorite is MassageASMR.  He has some great content and lots of variation.  But, there are TONS of artist out there, everyone has their personal preference.   ASMRrequest, HeatherFeatherASMREphemeralRift, I can go on for days.  Check around Youtube, and find artists you like.  Its a great experience and I feel like everyone should enjoy it. (And I was not paid to say any of this, seriously, get out there and find some good asmr.  You’ll love it.)

Honestly, there’s tons of triggers.  So enjoy them all!  This information may seem a bit strange at first, but get some headphones, have a few minutes to spare, and watch some asmr.  You’ll understand why people make it part of their daily routines and hopefully you’ll really enjoy it!

What is Success?

People have many different views on success.  We all have our different outlook on what success really is.  Is it having a nice car?  A big house?  Money?  One big question I have for is this:

How come when you type in “successful man” into Google, pictures of a men at their jobs, in suits, with money in their hands appear?  Yet no pictures of a proud parent watching their child doing something good, or someone doing something they absolutely love?

Success is not just having a job that gives you money.  Now, its a great thing to have, and can be very rewarding.  In fact there are quite a few people who have a job that they are passionate about, and that’s amazing.  However, when I looked up the definition of success, I saw many different definitions.  The problem?  Every definition had the word wealth in it.

Success is not how much valuable material you have.  Now, I’m not saying that you should try not to be wealthy, its something that we all naturally strive for and its a good thing to go after.  What I’m saying is that we need to change the definition of the word “rich”.

The very second you become grateful, you are rich.  When you become grateful for the dinner you just ate, or the mailman, coffee, the fact that you’re alive, you will be the richest man you can possibly be.  And when you become rich in that way, you will have success.

Success to me is being able to come home to a great family, doing things I enjoy doing, and knowing that I am very happy with the life I have.  A job that pays money, well, its nice.  But it doesn’t fill my body with joy like other things do.  In other words, success is being able to be happy.

To be successful we need to try our best in life, find joy in everything we do, be grateful we have the opportunity to be doing the things we’re doing.  These things can make life so much more rewarding, and when you decide to let these roles play a big factor in your life, it will change drastically for the better.

So the next time you get a paycheck, think about what you will do with that money that will make you truly successful.
